Bowling team thrives at Holiday Classic

March 4, 2008 - The Fontbonne University women's bowling team had their most succesful tournament in the short history of the program. The team traveled to Birmingham, AL to compete in the Holiday Classic Hosted by Alabama A&M in their final tournament of the season. Fontbonne was the only Division III school of the 16 teams in the tournament. Fontbonne competed tough against every team and only lost to last year's National Champions, Vanderbilt, by a few pins.

At the tournament, Fontbonne set a team high game mark for the history of the women's bowling team. Fontbonne finished ahead of three Division II teams in the tournament. The team was led by Team MVP of the tournament, Leah Thomas, who posted a high game of 227 and led the team in average. The other team members that helped contribute to the history setting tournament were Meghan Schmidt, Erin Dennis, Hilary Barkley, Shannon Behnen, Chelsea Teroy, and Jennifer Owens.

The team finished the season with victories against both Division I and Division II schools.
