Griffins earn second straight win in dramatic fashion

March 27, 2008 - The Fontbonne University men's lacrosse team scored two goals in the final two minutes of their game against Tri-State University to earn their second straight victory. Fontbonne defeated Tri-State 7-6 to improve to 2-5 on the season.

Fontbonne jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, scoring a pair of goals 14 second apart in the fourth minute. Tri-State rebounded to score the next three goals of the half and took a 3-2 lead into halftime. In the second half, Fontbonne kicked up the defensive pressure. The Griffins held Tri-State to just eight shots in the second half. Fontbonne had tied the game heading into the fourth quarter.

In the final quarter, Tri-State scored with just minutes remaining to take a 6-5 lead. The lead didn't last long as Fontbonne attack Tim Ganey scored less than a minute later to tie the score. Fontbonne sophomore Ray Medella won the draw and scored the game winning goal just nine seconds after Ganey's goal. Fontbonne made that lead stand up the final 1:16 to secure their second straight victory.

For the game, Fontbonne had six different players score goals. Co-captain Brooks McGee led the way with two goals while Medella, Jaron Klopstein, Kendall Eckles, Josh Albrecht and Tim Ganey each tallied one goal. Austen Doster went the distance in goal for the Griffins earning his second victory.
