Griffins pick up post-season accolades

March 3, 2008 - On the heels on their second straight trip to the NCAA Division III National Tournament, several Fontbonne University men's basketball players are taking home post-season accolades.

Fontbonne junior forward Brian Fogerty (Winfield, MO) has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Player of the Year, First Team All-Conference and selected to the SLIAC Post-Season All-Tournament Team. Fogerty led the SLIAC in scoring averaging 19.4 points per game and eight rebounds.

Junior guard Patrick McCoy (Salem, MO) and sophomore guard Josh Branch (O'Fallon, MO) earned Second Team All-Conference honors. McCoy averages more than 15 points a game while Branch averages 19.2 per contest. Junior center Justin Storandt earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors. Storandt was one of the SLIAC top rebounders and he led the Griffins with 10 boards a contest.

Fontbonne senior Chad Fournie (Mascoutah, IL) was named the SLIAC Post-Season Tournament MVP. Fontbonne is 21-6 and will find out who, where and when they play in the NCAA Tournament on Monday afternoon.
