March 31, 2008 - The Fontbonne University baseball team sweep a three-game series this past weekend from Principia College to improve to 8-8 overall and 6-3 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC). The Griffins defeated the Panthers 13-5, 6-3 and 10-1. The Griffins were led offensively by junior Justin Juergensmeyer who recorded four hits and six RBI's in the three-game series. Fontbonne junior Dan Horn and sophomore Blake Tolan each recorded five hits and scored four runs in the series. On the mound, Fontbonne freshman David Willey improved to 3-0 on the season with a seven inning shutout performance on Saturday. Willey allowed just five hits and struck out five. Fontbonne senior Jon Kempema pitched six innings to pick up a win as he allowed just three runs while striking out seven. Fontbonne travels to Westminster College tomorrow (April 1) for an important SLIAC doubleheader. First pitch of the first game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
