Nov. 12, 2007- The Fontbonne Men and Women’s Cross Country teams completed their 2007 schedule on Saturday with strong performances in the tough NCAA Midwest Regional Meet held in Oshkosh, WI. With 57 teams competing, the Fontbonne men finished in 32nd place and the women came in 34th place. The tough competition led to some strong individual performances from Griffins runners. Seven of the 12 Fontbonne runners turned in season best performances, led by Freshman Everett Jackson (University City HS, University City, MO) and Zach Kassman (Northwest HS, Cedar Hill, MO); who both broke the existing school record for 8000 meters. Jackson nipped his team mate by a mere .1 second, to establish the new mark of 27:28.1. Senior Phi Yates (St. Dominic HS, St. Charles, MO) also set a personal record with a time of 29:28. Freshman women’s team member Rachel Hanson (Rossview HS, Clarksville, TN) tried to fight through an illness and a very talented field but she struggled to a finish time of 24:32, failing to qualify for the national meet. Freshman Tricia Morris (Trinity HS, Florissant, MO) turned in a great performance as she broke her own personal record by 58 seconds, completing the 6000 meter course in a time of 26:45. Also establishing personal record times were Freshman Kay Hart (Central HS, Nashville, TN) with a time of 28:35, Sophomore Monica Englebracht (Dow HS, Midland, MI), 29:15 and freshman Jillian Wohilishlager (Northwest HS, House Springs, MO), 29:33.
