Five soccer players take home all-conference honors

Nov. 7, 2007 - Five players from the Fontbonne University men's soccer team recently received St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) All-Conference honors.

Senior midfielder Don Tebeau (McCluer North), junior goalie Jess Jobe (Denton, TX) and junior defender Sean Biernacki (Marlborough, MA) were named to the First-Team All-Conference. Tebeau leader the Griffins in assists this year with six. He finished the season with three goals and six assists for 12 points. Jobe recorded a 1.06 goals against average while compiling eight shutouts in the nets for the Griffins. Biernacki was the Griffins' most consitent defender and recorded one goal and one assist.

Sophomore forward Mike Utley (Pattonville) and junior defender John Willis (Chaminade) were named to the Second Team All-Confernce. Utley was the Griffins leading scorer with nine goals and three assists for 21 points. Willis played in the central defense for the Griffins. He was a big reason Fontbonne only allowed 22 goals in 21 games.

Fontbonne finished the season 10-7-4 overall and 7-2 in the SLIAC. The Griffins season ended after losing in the championship game of the SLIAC Post-Season Tournament.
