The Fontbonne University men’s soccer team clinched a spot in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament by routing Lincoln Christian College 9-0 this past weekend. The victory improved Fontbonne’s SLIAC record to 7-1 and their overall record to 9-4-4.

The Griffins got goals from seniors Joe Genovese and Dan Mauer, sophomores Kevin Vonarx, Jesse Cook and Dave Cartier, and freshmen Phillip Newman, Mike Flieg and Chris Adamson to ease past the Preachers.

By beating Lincoln Christian, Fontbonne has assured themselves either the second or third seed in the SLIAC Post-Season Tournament. The tournament will be held on November 1 and 3 with the opponents, locations of games and game times yet to be determined. This is the fifth straight year Fontbonne has advanced to post season play.
