The Fontbonne University men’s soccer team won its conference opener on Saturday defeating Blackburn College 1-0 in overtime. The victory improved the Griffins overall record to 1-2-4 and 1-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC).

Freshmen Mike Flieg scored the Griffins lone goal in the 97:00 minute off a corner kick from senior Don Tebeau. Junior Jess Jobe recorded the shutout for Fontbonne as the Griffins out-shot Blackburn 19-3.

Fontbonne returns to the pitch on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. against Maryville University at Sportport in Maryland Heights.
