April 3, 2008 - In just their second year as an NCAA sanctioned program, the Fontbonne University women's lacrosse team has two players already among the nation's best statistically. Fontbonne junior attack Katie Radeackar (St. Louis, MO) and freshman goalie Claire Kallio (Medina, OH) both rank in the top 10 nationally in various statistical categories. Radeackar, a MICDS graduate, currently ranks 6th in the nation in goals per game at 4.83 goals a contest. Radeackar has scored a team-high 29 goals in six games. She has recorded at least one goal in every one of the Griffins six games this year. Kallio, a Medina High School graduate, currently ranks second in the nation in saves per game with 16 stops per contest. Kallio also ranks 26th in the nation for saves with 82. Kallio has played every minute of every game in goal for the Griffins. Radeackar and Kallio helped Fontbonne earn the program's their first NCAA win. The Griffins went winless last year in NCAA matches but have already won two this season. Fontbonne University first-year head coach Monica Potter said Radeackar and Kallio are a big reason the Griffins are on their way to a promising season. "Katie is a relentless worker. She works for every opportunity she gets, she's been the driving force behind our offense this season," Potter said. "Claire is stablizing our defense. Even in the games we've lost she played well enough to keep us in the game. We're excited to have both these players in our program." Radeackar and Kallio will be back in action this weekend as they host Linfield College Sunday, April 6 at noon at Gay Field in Clayton.
