Dedicated Semester Incentive Program/Fall 2011
STUDENT INCENTIVE PROGRAM
Students who participate in at least eight Dedicated Semester Events and submit a project (e.g., essay, poem, artwork) to the Dedicated Semester Committee related to the goals of the Dedicated Semester will be eligible for a recognition award. Awards include a $600 gift card to the Apple Store, a laptop, $50 gift certificates to the Fontbonne bookstore and Amazon.com. In addition there will be iTunes gift cards and Dedicated Semester T-Shirts awarded at various events throughout the semester. More details will be provided at each event.
DEDICATED SEMESTER STUDENT RECOGNITION AWARDS
Students who have participated in at least eight Dedicated Semester Events are encouraged to submit a project (e.g., scholarly analyses, critical investigations, creative writings, art, or essays) to the Dedicated Semester Committee for consideration for a Student Recognition Award. The project should be related to the goals or themes of the Dedicated Semester and will be judged on its merit and universal appeal. Projects completed for a class may be submitted but should be adjusted for a general audience. Awards include a $600 gift card to the Apple Store, a laptop, and $ 50 gift certificates to the Fontbonne bookstore and Amazon.com.
The deadline for submissions is January 20, 2012. The stamped Access Card documenting attendance at eight events and the project should be submitted to Melissa Eichhorn in East 312. Winners of the Dedicated Semester Student Recognition Awards will be announced by March 15. Projects may be published (with permission of the student) in the Interdisciplinary Journal of the Dedicated Semester.
Goals for the 2011 Dedicated Semester
- Recognizing the contributions of individuals with disabilities
- Exploring the historical, legal and societal aspects of disabilities
- Creating an understanding of the social justice implications of respect for individuals with disabilities
- Indentifying the technological advances that have impacted the lives of individuals with disabilities
- Investigating the educational and social services provided to individuals with disabilities
