Food is our best medicine. What we eat today on a regular basis may have a bigger impact on our health decades in the future than even exercise, meditation, massage therapy, and other popular healthy habits. Traditional Chinese Medicine assigns medicinal benefits to each kind of grain, nut, seed, vegetable, fruit, and meat. This knowledge allows you to carefully choose the best foods to eat for your particular health goals. Many herbs are considered to be vegetables and some vegetables are powerful enough to be considered medicinal. Prevention can be the most effective use of herbs and one of the best ways to be preventive with them is to incorporate them into your daily food. Knowing the best foods to eat for your particular health goals and including medicinal quantities of herbs in your daily diet are illustrative of one of the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
