The 7th Annual Summer Literacy Institute:
The Reading Writing Connection, Grades K-12

July 9-12, 2012 Parkway Central Middle School

 

Presenter: Katherine Bomer

A renowned keynote speaker and literacy consultant for over twenty years, Katherine Bomer travels nationally and internationally to work with school districts, literacy coaches, and individual schools on various reading and writing topics. Katherine has taught primary and intermediate grades in New York, Indiana, and most recently, Texas. She worked for five years at the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project with Lucy Calkins, and she continues today her association with that community. She is a published poet and essayists, as well as a popular author of professional books on the teaching of writing. As a frequent speaker at conferences and institutes, Katherine combines a teacher's practical advice, a writer's love of language, and a powerful plea for social justice.

Group rates available

All registration forms must be sent in together, to qualify for group rate.

  • 5-9 teachers per district - $330 per teacher
  • 10-14 teachers per district - $310 per teacher
  • 15 or more teachers per district - $290 per teacher

Graduate Credit Available: Last day to register for credit is June 1, 2012.

Course includes mandatory pre-institute session at Fontbonne. Choice of dates and times are listed below:

May 24, 4-6 PM; June 4, 4-6 PM; June 12, 6-8 PM; or June 27, 6-8 PM.

Additional cost for Graduate Credit: $300 for three credit hours

  • $25 application fee (if first Fontbonne course)
