Speech-Language Pathologists for Collaborative, Inclusive Education of Learners who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication or Cochlear Implants

Eight scholarships will be funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education and Rehabilitation Service. The purpose of this project is to increase the number of qualified speech-language pathologists prepared to work with children who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and children who use cochlear implants (CI) in inclusive education settings using collaborative strategies. Students awarded this scholarship will be awarded 23 credit hours of tuition remission, a $2,000 practicum stipend and $200 per semester book stipend, along with travel funds for professional education development.

In exchange for the scholarship, those awarded are expected to obtain and maintain employment of two years for every one year of scholarship reimbursement in inclusive educational environments with students who use AAC and/or who use CI, along with participation in a mentorship program for the first year of employment following graduation.
