CM_LitInstSu2008_FIC: Summer Literacy Institute at Fontbonne University

Every teacher has high expectations - not only of their students, but also of themselves. With a Master of Arts in Education from Fontbonne University, teachers have the foundation for continuous career advancement. In addition, they can immediately apply what they learn in the program in their classrooms.

At Fontbonne, we believe in teaching by example. Classes are small. Professors are knowledgeable, experienced and committed to your success. Many of our faculty continue to work in classrooms and share effective contemporary techniques that will prepare you to inspire students of your own.

The value of this teaching approach was recognized in 2003, when the university was awarded $1 million in federal partnership funds to establish the Fontbonne University Center for Teacher and Therapist Education. The new center provides a collaborative setting for training teachers certified in education, special education, deaf education and speech-language pathology and serves as a unique national model for the preparation of a new generation of teachers.

Fontbonne University is accredited by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
