The Master of Science in Taxation Requirements

Required Core (21 credit hours)

  • Federal Income Taxation
  • Taxation of Corporations and Shareholders
  • Tax Practice and Procedure
  • Tax Research Methods
  • Estate and Gift Taxation and Planning
  • Tax Accounting
  • Taxation of Partners, Partnerships, and S Corporations

Elective Core (9 credit hours):

  • Taxation of Real Estate
  • Pensions, Profit Sharing, and Deferred Compensation
  • International Taxation
  • Multi-state Taxation
  • Advanced Corporate Taxation

Graduate Certification in Business Taxation Requirements

Required Core (9 credit hours)

  • Taxation of Corporations and Shareholders
  • Taxation of Partners and S-Corporations
  • Pensions, Profit Sharing and Deferred Compensation

Elective Core (6 credit hours)

  • International Taxation
  • Advanced Corporate Taxation
  • Multi-State Taxation

Graduate Certificate in Individual Taxation Requirements

Required Core (9 credit hours)

  • Federal Income Taxation
  • Estate and Gift Taxation and Planning
  • Tax Practice and Procedure

Elective Core (6 credit hours)

  • Tax Accounting
  • Taxation of Real Estate
  • Pensions, Profit Sharing and Deferred Comprehension

Prepatory Core

MST candidates and Graduate Certificate candidates must have 15 undergraduate credit hours in the following content areas with a minimum of a 3 credit course in each content area:

  • Accounting
  • Business Law
  • Computer Science Application
  • Economics
  • Finance

The Preparatory Core grade requirements

A letter grade of C- or better is required for all courses in the preparatory core. Students receiving less than a C- in a preparatory core course must retake the course and earn a grade of C- or better. However, students receiveing a grade less than C- in two or more preparatory core courses may be dismissed from the program. 

Non-Degree Students

Non-Degree students may take a course for job knowledge / enrichment purposes either for a grade or audit.
