Where am I?
Christine Krekow, M.S.,CCC-SLP
Instructor
My name is Christine Krekow M.S., CCC-SLP (pronounced /kre'ko/ or "Cray Co."). After earning a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Northwestern University and a Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Arizona State University, I began working ten years ago as an itinerant therapist in bilingual Headstart preschool programs. In addition to working as a speech-language pathologist in home, day care, school-based, and clinical therapy settings with a wide variety of clients, I've lead professional development seminars in Arizona and Missouri and participated in an Early Reading First Grant studying best practices for bilingual language development in school-based settings. Currently I serve in a variety of capacities. As a half-time faculty member at Fontbonne University I have been teaching the on-campus version of Language Development of the Typical and Exceptional Child (CDS105) and supervising graduate and undergraduate SLP students practicing in the Developmental Language Group in Fontbonne's Eardley Family Clinic for Speech, Language, Hearing since 2007. In addition I have a private practice serving private and Missouri First Steps families, some in conjunction with the Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairment. While I have THE best job in the world, where I get to PLAY ALL DAY, I've also been known to cook creatively, read Russian Literature recreationally and review my husband's home-brewed beer critically. The following are a few of my favorite links: Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments http://www.dgckids.org -an agency which provide services to children with visual impairments First Steps http://www.eikids.com/mo/matrix/ -the state-funded program providing therapy services to children and their families ages zero to three years-old Southwest Human Development http://www.swhd.org/ -a non-profit agency providing a variety of services to young children and families in Phoenix, AZ.
