Professional Requirements
Degree and Certification Requirements
Undergraduates must successfully complete the general education and professional requirements of Fontbonne University (a total of 128 hours, less coursework accepted as transfer credit). Two university-supervised field experiences are required and may be completed “on-the-job.”
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) requires a blended GPA of 2.5 for all courses taken at all colleges and universities and Fontbonne requires a GPA of 2.75 for professional coursework. You must attempt the C-BASE, a test of general knowledge, complete the capstone project required of all Fontbonne teacher certification candidates, and pass the Praxis II examination in special education.
