Professional Writing Minor
A student must successfully complete, at Fontbonne, a minimum of 50 percent of the credit hours required for the minor.
To qualify for a minor in professional writing, a student musthave received at least a B- in ENG 101 and ENG 102 or the equivalent inadvanced credit. The minor requirements include 18 hours in writing asfollows:
- ENG 304 Advanced Writing: Creative Nonfiction (To continue in theminor in professional writing, the student must receive at least a B-in ENG 304.)
15 hours in writing electives, selected from the following:
- ENG 201 Business Writing (3 hours)
- ENG 208 Newspaper Workshop (for 3 hours)
- ENG 309 Journalism: Reporting and Editorial Writing (3 hours)
- ENG 310 Journalism: Feature Writing and the Interview (3 hours)
- ENG 311 Writing Poetry (3 hours)
- ENG 312 Writing Short Fiction (3 hours)
- ENG 313 Writing the One-Act Play (3 hours)
- ENG 494 Special Topics: Writing (3 hours)
Note: ENG 494 topics will vary; thus a student may register for more than one course under this number.
