Cyber Security Certificate

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science offers two certificates in cyber security, both of which can be earned in 12 credit hours. Our Level 1 certificate is for IT professionals with absolutely no background in data or computer security, while our Level 2 certificate is designed for IT professionals with some security background.
These certificates can help technology professionals enhance their expertise and marketability without the time and expense of adding a full degree. As cyber security demands increase, so too do the demands for professionals with education and knowledge in the field. A cyber security certificate could put you a step ahead of the competition in a wide range of sectors, from government and military to business and healthcare. If you want to expand your knowledge even further, consider a cyber security minor or a Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security.
Level 1 certificate:
CIS 125: Introduction to Cyber Crime and Security (3 credits)
CIS 225: Information Security Policy Analysis and Implementation (3 credits)
Plus two additional 300 or 400-level cyber security courses, one of which may be a general computer science course that is a prerequisite or co-requisite for a specific cyber security course. **

CIS 345: Network Security and Management (CIS 340 is a prerequisite or co-requisite) (3 credits)
