Our communication studies program is unique because students can tailor portions of the major to meet their goals. You will be encouraged to pursue a concentration in broadcasting, journalism, professional writing or public relations, any of which can help develop specific career skills in your field of choice.

Our broadcasting students take courses offered through the nationally recognized Broadcast Center in St. Louis. The curriculum of the Broadcast Center covers many different aspects of the industry, including announcing, marketing, and program and commercial production.

Our journalism students gain newspaper production skills, from reporting to layout, through their involvement with the Fontbanner, the student newspaper.

Fontbonne students will study current, relevant communication issues in our “special topics in communication” course. Topics vary semester to semester and have included political persuasion, truth and deception, gender issues in contemporary media and health communication.

And, our highly successful internship program helps you gain valuable "real world" experience that often provides entry into your preferred job field.
