Need-Based Financial Aid

according to the calculated financial need of the family. Must file

Federal Supplemental Educational
Opportunity Grant (SEOG)
Ranging from $500 to $1,000Awards which require no repayment. SEOG grants are made to
students with high financial need and for whom other aid sources are
insufficient to meet that need. Limited funding, file FAFSA by April 30.
Access Missouri GrantRanging up $3,200Available to a limited number of qualified, full-time undergraduate
Missouri residents with a 2.5 gpa or higher. You must file the FAFSA before April 1.
Fontbonne GrantRange VariesAvailable to full-time undergraduate students with financial need.
Funding is limited. Complete and submit the FAFSA by June 1.
Federal Work Study Program (FWS)Ranging up to $1,500The FWS Program is financed by Fontbonne University and the
Federal government. Awards are made on a basis of financial need
set at a limit that cannot be exceeded without prior permission from
the financial aid director.
Federal Perkins LoanRanging from $1,000 to $2,000Perkins loan provides a long-term federal loan to undergraduate
students with demonstrated need. New borrowers have a nine-month
grace period, which begins immediately upon graduation, withdrawal
from Fontbonne or registration for less than six credit hours.
Repayment is based on five percent interest.
Federal Subsidized Stafford LoanRanging up to $5,500Provides loans up to $3,500 for freshmen, $4,500 for sophomore,
and up to $5,500 for junior, senior, or fifth-year students. First-time
borrowers’ loan proceeds will be disbursed 30 days after the
beginning of the semester.
Federal Unsubsidized Stafford LoanRanging up to $4,000 for freshmen and sophomores and up to $5,500 for juniors, seniors and fifth-year studentsStudents may qualify for an unsubsidized loan regardless of financial need. Interest accrues on the loan while they are in school. The combination of a subsidized and unsubsidized loan cannot exceed
the annual loan limits outlined in the description.

undergraduate student.
Federal Parent Loans for
Undergraduate Students (PLUS)
Amount of each loan may not
exceed the student’s cost of
education minus other aid
received.
Provided to families who may not qualify for other types of aid or
who need additional funds. PLUS Loans are made to parents of
undergraduate students and are obtained through banks and other
commercial lenders. PLUS Loans carry a variable interest rate
capped at 9%. Repayment begins 60 days after second disbursement.
