Scholarship Opportunities

Applying for Scholarships

To apply for scholarships you must submit a Fontbonne application for admission as a full-time student (12-18 credit hours). Applications must be received by the priority scholarship deadline of Dec. 15 to be considered for the maximum amount of scholarship dollars. Once students have been accepted to the university and awarded scholarship, notification in writing will be mailed to each student.

Freshman Scholarships

Student receiving any of the following scholarships may also be eligible to receive one talent scholarships if they meet the specific scholarship criteria. Any student attending an A+ high school who completes the Missouri state requirements for that program may be eligible for $1,000 in additional scholarship funds.

Presidential Scholarship*

Criteria: cumulative high school GPA of a 3.6 on a 4.0 scale, 30 ACT composite score and/or 1990 SAT combined score.  Award amount: up to $19,000 per academic year for 4 years provided student maintains a 3.6 cumulative GPA.

Dean's Scholarship*

Criteria: cumulative high school GPA of a 3.4 on a 4.0 scale, 27 ACT composite score and/or 1820 SAT combined score.  Award amount: $10,500 - $12,500 per academic year for 4 years provided student maintains a 3.4 cumulative GPA.

Founders Scholarship*

Criteria: cumulative high school GPA of a 3.2 on a 4.0 scale, 25 ACT composite score and/or SAT 1700 combined score.  Award amount: $8,500 - $10,500 per academic year for 4 years provided student maintains a 3.2 cumulative GPA.

Alumni Scholarship

Criteria: cumulative high school GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, 22 ACT composite score and/or 1530 SAT combined score.  Award amount: $6,500 - $8,500 per academic year for 4 years provided student maintains a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

Freshman College Scholarship

Criteria: cumulative high school GPA of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, 20 ACT composite score and/or 1410 SAT combined score.  Award amount: $5,000 - $6,000 per academic year for 4 years provided student maintains a 2.5 cumulative GPA.

Griffin Award

Criteria: cumulative high school GPA of a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, demonstrated leadership and/or participation in extra-curricular activities throughout high school. Students must submit a self-statement listing extra-curricular and leadership activities along with the years in which they participated in those activities to be considered for the Griffin Award.
Award amount: $1,000 - $4,000 per academic year for 4 years provided student maintains a 2.0 cumulative GPA.

* Students who qualify for these scholarships may be eligible for additional funds if enrolling in the Honors program.

Talent Scholarships

Students applying for talent scholarships must major in one of these areas to be eligible for the scholarship.

Art Scholarship

Requirements:

• Portfolio consisting of approximately 12 pieces (submitted electronically) that you feel demonstrate your ability and potential.
• Scholarships range up to $3,000 per academic year.

Performing Arts Scholarship (Scholarships are available for performance and technical theatre.)

Requirements:

• Performance audition of a 3-5 minute scene or monologue that is memorized and contains movement.
• Technical theatre students must provide pictures from productions you've worked on.
• Scholarships range up to $3,000 per academic year.

English/Writing Scholarships

Requirements:

• Two to three pieces such as essays, short stories, or poetry samples (up to 5 poems). These will be reviewed by the English department.
• One letter of recommendation from a teacher who can assess your writing ability.
• Scholarships range up to $3,000 per academic year.

Math/Computer Science Scholarship

Requirements:

• Coursework in math and/or science that demonstrates a strong academic record.
• One letter of recommendation from a math or science teacher who can assess your academic ability.
• Interviews with Fontbonne faculty (that will be set up by the Admission Office).
• Scholarships range up to $3,000 per academic year.
