Who are we? Fontbonne Community Connection is a giving circle composed of alumnae and friends of Fontbonne University. How does it work? Each member pledges to give $1,000 each fiscal year. All donations are deposited in a restricted fund. Faculty and student organizations are invited to apply for grants from the FCC. A committee will review all applications and the full membership will vote on distribution of the awards. Award recipients will be required to make a short presentation at a full membership meeting about how they used their grant money. The amount of money available for distribution is dependent on the number of members and will therefore vary each year. All money stays within the Fontbonne University community. Who can be a member? Any woman who believes in the power of higher education and Fontbonne University’s ability to provide it to her students and is prepared to support that belief with a donation of at least $1,000 each fiscal year. This $1,000 donation can be made in one payment, in quarterly or monthly payments, in cash, stock or by credit card. All members who join by June 30, 2008, will be considered charter members of the Fontbonne Community Connection. All charter members donating $1,000 or more will be recognized on the University Honor Roll and through the Lyon Society. FCC Mission Statement The Fontbonne Community Connection aspires to promote Fontbonne University initiatives. We are committed to forging new relationships and building a community of thoughtful effective philanthropists among a diversified assembly of women. FCC Statement of Purpose: Because the FCC believes in the positive effect that higher education has on society, and because we believe Fontbonne University is educating students to serve a world in need, we are establishing the FCC, a women’s giving circle, that will focus on assisting faculty and staff as well as student organizations to reach higher and broader in their educational dreams. The FCC will offer financial awards to faculty or students to help them achieve goals, dreams and ideas that could otherwise not be met or pursued within a current budget. While various University groups will ultimately benefit from the FCC, its members will also reap the satisfaction of making a noticeable difference in the lives of others.
