Karim Madatali enters his first season as the Griffins' head men's and women's tennis coach. Madatali was hired this summer after a successful stint as the head men's tennis coach at Maryville University. Madatali spent eight years as the head coach at Maryville, leading the Saints to undefeated regular season conference records in 2007 and 2008. His #1 singles player earned 2008 SLIAC Player of the Year honors.
In addition to a successful coaching career at Maryville, Madatali brings an extensive playing career to Fontbonne. Madatali qualified for the Canadian Junior Nationals three years in a row and had a No. 28 in the nation ranking at one point. He also was ranked No. 2 in his state/province of British Columbia. In 2005, Madatali earned the No. 1 ranking in the St. Louis area and a year later in 2006 he was honored as the St. Louis Tennis Association's "Adult Player of the Year". While in college, Madatali earned First-Team All-Conference honors as No. 1 singles spot at Maryville.
Madatali is currently a tennis professional at Frontenac Racquet Club and Director of Tennis at the Westborough Country Club.
