Job Title: Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing professional accounting activities and ensuring accuracy of data in accordance with non-profit accounting principles and practices. Must make all necessary corrections, troubleshoot system errors and resolve employee and student account related issues.

Specific duties include providing support through the Controller's Office by:

  • Review and approval of A/P requisitions and expense reimbursement statements
  • Research A/P checks for payment status; void/reissue as necessary
  • Act as backup to A/P clerk as required
  • Record basic journal entries, student account activity, monthly expense allocations, and payroll expense journals
  • Record gift income batches to general ledger
  • Reconcile various accounts; traditional and OPTIONS EFT bank accounts, payroll clearing accounts, inter-fund clearing account
  • Reconcile financial aid awards: budget to actual
  • Prepare and review 1099 1098T tax forms for accuracy
  • Administer employee tuition remission, including calculating taxable benefit amounts
  • Maintain corporate Visa procurement card records; monthly expense posting, add new accounting codes, assist users with statements
  • Other duties as assigned

Accounting experience preferred. Must have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles - nonprofit accounting preferred and reconciliation procedures with the ability to reconcile accounts/batches. Knowledge of problem solving techniques for identifying problems, researching and determining the reasonable course of action. Excellent computer skills; specifically advanced Excel and/or Access as well as the ability to operate in a multiple windows environment required. Must also possess ability to prepare detailed reports on a timely basis.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to support effective interaction with various levels of faculty, staff, students and other constituents a must. Job requires attention to detail, prioritization and ability to meet deadlines. Bachelor's degree preferred.

Job Title: Assistant to the President for Mission Integration

Fontbonne University invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant to the President for Mission Integration. Located in St. Louis, Missouri, Fontbonne University is a co-educational, Catholic institution with an enrollment of nearly 3,000 students. The university was founded and is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

The Assistant to the President for Mission Integration is responsible for promoting the active engagement of the university in carrying out the mission and reports directly to the President.

The Assistant to the President for Mission Integration works in collaboration with the Vice Presidents of the university, the holder of the Endowed Chair in Catholic Thought and the Campus Ministry staff. In addition, the person will work in liaison with the Province Leadership Team of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet. The Assistant to the President for Mission Integration is charged with creating, maintaining and enhancing initiatives and programs that enable members of the university community to more fully embody Catholic ideals and values in their lives and work.

The primary duty of the Assistant to the President for Mission Integration is to infuse the mission throughout the university. Additional duties include but are not limited to the following:

Duties:

  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of a plan for integrating the mission into the curriculum, co-curriculum and other functions and activities of the university.
  • Chair the Mission Integration Advisory Board.
  • Assist with new student and employee orientation programs.
  • Promote a just community that respects and protects the dignity and diversity of the community members.
  • Nurture spirituality, specifically with an awareness of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet charism and of the Catholic intellectual tradition.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and understanding of Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Commitment to the university's Mission, Vision, Values, Commitment and Catholic Identity.
  • Respect for the many and various ways people contribute to Catholic Identity and mission.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty in curricular development and with staff in co-curricular development.
  • Ability to generate enthusiasm for values-based Catholic higher education.
  • Minimum of a master's degree; a doctorate preferred.
  • Minimum of three years teaching/administrative experience in higher education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Director reports to the Vice President and Dean for Academic Affairs and manages a comprehensive institutional research and assessment program to support Fontbonne's mission and strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities: Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and maintaining systems to collect data; producing statistics, analyses, reports, and reviews relative to internal and external requests for data with a particular emphasis on enrollment and financial aid; planning and organizing regular internal and external reports and surveys; coordinating, broadening, and monitoring assessment activities across the University, including conducting the ongoing assessment of student learning; serving on the assessment committee; facilitating the collection, analysis and interpretation of assessment data; assisting in the development, implementation, and interpretation of faculty and student evaluations; and assisting in the effective utilization of data for planning, policy making, and program improvement. Fontbonne University expects to prepare its self study during the 2008-2009 academic year in preparation for its accreditation visit by The Higher Learning Commission during the 2009-2010 academic year; the director of institutional research and assessment will play a critical role in this process.

Qualifications: A master's degree (doctorate preferred); experience working in higher education; demonstrated leadership in institutional research and program assessment; and knowledge of and experience in qualitative and quantitative research design, statistical methodology, and database systems supporting research activities. In addition to the ability to work cooperatively and independently, the successful candidate will possess excellent skills in research and data analysis, oral and written communication, data presentation, and organization.
