Office 2007 definitely sports a new look, especially with regard to the menu and toolbars. Download this file for an overview of the changes, and then check out the training so you will be prepared:

Compatibility with Previous Versions

Those using a previous version of Office can open 2007 documents with the help of a Compatibility Pack Converter. When opening a 2007 document in a previous version, the user will be asked if he or she wants to download the converter. Once the converter is installed, the user can open the document and work with it. For more detailed instructions see this Open 2007 in Previous Version document.

NOTE: The previous version of Office must have been updated with the latest patches and service packs. Additionally, the converter works only with Office 2000 SP3, Office XP SP3, and Office 2003 SP1. It works only on the following operating systems: Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP1, and Windows Server 2003.

If there is any doubt that a user can download and install the converter, it is recommended that files be saved with an older file format. To do so:

• Click the Microsoft Office Button
• Point to the arrow at the end of the Save as command, and
• Click Word 97-2003 format on the list of options.
