ST. LOUIS – The Fontbonne University/KMOX Book Club welcomes Pulitzer
Prize-winning author T.J. Stiles at its September book club event.
Stiles’ latest book is called “The First Tycoon: The Epic Life of
Cornelius Vanderbilt.” The event will take place Wednesday, Sept. 15, at
7 p.m. at the St. Louis County Library, 1640 S. Lindbergh, 63131.

“The First Tycoon” tells the story of Cornelius Vanderbilt, an American
entrepreneur who made his fortune in shipping and railroads. The
biography offers a new account of the business career and personal life
of Vanderbilt, an influential corporate tycoon and the founder of the
Vanderbilt dynasty. “The First Tycoon” was awarded the 2009 National
Book Award for Non-Fiction and the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Biography.
