Fontbonne to Hold Portfolio and Performing Arts Day

Local high school students have a unique opportunity to showcase their artistic and theatrical talents thanks to an event sponsored by Fontbonne University.

The university will hold a "Fine Arts Portfolio and Performing Arts Day" Feb. 17 from 1 - 4 p.m. The event is designed for high school students as well as potential transfer students who are interested in art, such as ceramics, drawing, graphic design, painting or sculpture, or those interested in theatre and the performing arts.

Participants will have an opportunity to meet one-on-one with Fontbonne faculty for artwork and performance evaluations. Faculty will also provide scholarship recommendations during the session.

"This is a great way for students to gain valuable experience and exposure at the collegiate level," said Deanna Jent, Fontbonne's director of theater. "The participants will receive some great feedback as they look for a school, program and life in the arts that best suits them."

Fine arts students should bring three to five pieces of their best artwork for review. Performing arts students will be scheduled for 30-minute "performance auditions." Participants will begin the session with warm-up theater activities at 1 p.m., hear a demonstration on audition techniques at 1:30 p.m., and work individually on their own audition pieces with graduate student directors before auditioning from 2 - 4 p.m.

Attendance is limited. To register for this event, go to or call 1-800-205-5862.
