Fontbonne University has named Marilyn Sheperd its new vice president for institutional advancement effective Aug. 1.
“Ms. Sheperd brings a breadth of experience in fund raising and institutional leadership to Fontbonne,” said Dr. Dennis C. Golden, Fontbonne president. “I am confident that her proven record, determination and dynamic personality will drive the university’s fund-raising efforts to even greater levels of success.”
Dr. William Rothwell, who is retiring from the position, has been at the forefront of Fontbonne’s current fund-raising efforts.
“Fontbonne is an incredible and special place,” Rothwell said. “I am honored and privileged to have served as vice president these past years. Fontbonne is in an upward spiral, and I’m certain that Marilyn has the talent and ability to do a fantastic job.”
Sheperd will oversee all aspects of the university’s fund-raising and alumni relation activities. She also provided hands-on management and direction of a $100-million fund-raising campaign at Toledo. With an extensive career in higher education, Sheperd has worked at institutions such as the University of Michigan, University of Illinois at Chicago and University of Chicago.
She earned her bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College in Iowa and her master’s degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago.
