Former Basketball Pro Back in Classroom Thanks to OPTIONS
Unlike many of his fellow adult college students, 37-year-old Fontbonne University OPTIONS student Johnnie Mack doesn't regret leaving school back when he was a traditional student.
A star basketball player and two-time Academic All American at Montana State University, Mack had more than 90 credit hours when he was presented with the opportunity of a lifetime: to play his sport professionally in a league overseas.
"Four years of playing professional basketball in Madrid was awesome," says Mack. "I'm glad I have that experience."
A knee injury before he started a fifth playing year sent Mack home, where he had surgery, rehab and he says too much wasted time getting back to school to finish his degree.
"It took me a long time to get back to college, even after I came home'" says Mack, who started in the OPTIONS BBA in October 2007. "I tell my 16-year-old daughter to go right to college and finish school as soon as you can. Get it done."
Mack projects he'll graduate with his bachelor's degree in 2009. He plans to pursue an MBA through Fontbonne right away.
OPTIONS is designed specifically to accommodate the needs of busy, working adults with convenient and accelerated undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
