Saint Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne University's Gallery of Art will exhibit work from the school's first national juried competition from Feb. 6 - 27. The exhibit, titled "8 Inch Miniature Competition," will open with an artist reception on Friday, Feb. 6, from 6 - 8 p.m.
The competition required participants to create work no larger than 8 inches using any medium. Juried by local artists Mario Carlos, Robert Massa, and Fontbonne associate professor of art Tim Liddy, the exhibition will display the very best pieces from artists located throughout the country, including Florida, Oklahoma, New York and Illinois. Over 65 artists entered work, but only 43 pieces were accepted and will be on display.
"We're thrilled with the participation we've seen for this competition," said Ellen Gouchner, Fontbonne's gallery director. "The level of national notice the Fontbonne Gallery of Art has received really speaks to the quality of our programming."
The Fontbonne Gallery of Art strives to encourage and support the artist and the education of the visual arts in the community through its exhibitions and programs. The Gallery's hours are: Mon. - Thurs., 9:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.; Tues., 9:30 a.m. - 7 p.m.; Fri., 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.; and Sat., 12 - 4 p.m. For more information, call 314-889-1431 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
