March 15, 2010 - Making her first career collegiate start, Fontbonne freshman pitcher Kourtney VonBehren tossed a no-hitter to give the Griffins a 3-0 victory of Endicott College today. In their second game of the day, Fontbonne fell to University of Wisconsin-River Falls 1-0. The Griffins are now 2-2 on the season.
VonBehren, a freshman from Affton High School, no-hit Endicott which was one win away from going to the elite 8 last season in the Div. III National Softball Tournament. Katy Mueller, Alyssa Akers and Samantha Rosner all scored a run for the Griffins while Cassandra Bremer and Amanda Beaver recorded RBI's.
In the second game, the Rivers-Falls pitching staff shutdown the Griffins offense. Fontbonne head coach Bill Rosner said if the Griffins can get timely hitting they can compete with anyone.
"We are competing at a high level and we're forcing teams to beat us," Rosner said. "We're playing great defense and we'll win alot of games if we can keep that up."
