ST. LOUIS – The Fontbonne University/KMOX Book Club will host Tom Maertz, documentary filmmaker and the director of “Will Work for Food,” during the June book club event. The book club will take place Saturday, June 5, from 7 – 9 p.m. in the Lewis room of the Fontbonne University library, 6800 Wydown Ave., St. Louis.

The event is free, but reservations are required. Call 314-444-1827 or e-mail, leave a name and phone number, and reference the “June” book club to reserve a spot today.

“Will Work for Food” tells the story of “sign flyers,” homeless and desperate people who hold cardboard signs soliciting for help of some kind. Maertz shot footage and interviewed sign flyers in the Twin Cities area (Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn.) from 2007 – 2009.
