Hardee's CEO Discusses Job Creation with Fontbonne/KMOX Book Club

ST. LOUIS – The Fontbonne University/KMOX Book Club welcomes Andy Puzder, author of “Job Creation: How It Really Works and Why Government Doesn’t Understand It,” at its next book club event. The event will take place Friday, Dec. 9, 9 - 11 a.m., at Hardee’s, 5854 Oakland Ave.

The event is free, but reservations are required. Please register online. You can also call 314-444-1827 or e-mail cwbrennan@cbs.com, leave a name and phone number and reference the “December” book club to reserve a spot today.

After receiving his juris doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis and then working as a commercial trial lawyer, Andy Puzder met Carl Karcher, founder of CKE Restaurants, Inc. As Karcher’s personal attorney, Puzder helped Karcher out of significant financial trouble. In 1997, he was named Executive Vice President and General Counsel for CKE. Then, in 2000, he was appointed as CEO of Hardee’s Food Systems, which CKE had acquired in 1997 and was in major financial straits. In this role, he took on the project for which he is best known: helping Hardee’s climb out of debt and reimaging their brand.

In “Job Creation,” Puzder and co-author David Newton explore the avenues through which jobs are actually generated and why the government’s attempts have not, and will not, pan out.
