ST. LOUIS - The Fontbonne University/KMOX Book Club welcomes Amy Chua, author of “Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother,” at its next book club event. The event will take place Thursday, Feb. 9, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Parkway West High School, 14653 Clayton Road.

The event is free, but reservations are required. Please register online. You can also call 314-444-1827 or email cwbrennan@cbs.com, leave a name and phone number and reference the “February” book club to reserve a spot today.

Amy Chua, author and Professor of Law at Yale Law School, explores the differences between the “Chinese Mother” and “Western Parents” in this controversial memoir of her strict parenting style. According to Chua, while western parenting tends to encourage individuality, the Chinese philosophy emphasizes strong skills and work habits. Determined to raise her two Chinese-American daughters in the strict way her parents raised her, Chua comes to realize that when it comes to parenting, one style does not fit all.
