From Friday, Feb. 3 through Friday, March 2, stop by the
Fontbonne University Fine Arts Gallery and visit The Figure Now Exhibition, a
painting exhibition focused on the contemporary interpretation of the human
form.
The Figure Now Exhibition is a national competition open to emerging and established artists in the United States. This year’s entrants included everyone from current Fontbonne students and alumni to students and faculty from universities around the country.
Artist Kent Williams had the difficult task of narrowing down the near 400 applicants to just 18 pieces to be displayed at this year’s exhibit. Congratulations to the first, second and third place winners:
First place: Reineier Gamboa, “The Gift”
Second place: Junghwa Hong, “Upstream”
Third place: Jim Salvati, “Hoop Dress”
Thanks goes out to the Regional Arts Commission and Fontbonne Alumni who generously provided the funding for the exhibition.
Next, the Fine Arts Gallery will host a faculty show that will include works by Fontbonne’s own adjunct and full-time professors. The exhibit begins on March 9 with an opening reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
