Fontbonne senior Bill Boxdorfer has been named as the 2012 SLIAC Male Scholar Athlete of the Year. He is the first male athlete to receive this honor at Fontbonne. In recognition of his achievements, Boxdorfer has been invited to the SLIAC Inaugural Awards Banquet May 15 to speak about his experience at Fontbonne both academically and as a member of the cross-country and track teams.
Faculty athlete representatives at each school in the SLIAC conference nominate an athlete each year for the honor. The nominees then complete an application packet, and the SLIAC Administrative Council votes on one male and one female representative.
“(Bill has) demonstrated all that is great with Division III athletics – excellence and dedication in the classroom, on the track and within the community highlights,” Will Wolpher, SLIAC Commissioner, said to Boxdorfer in his acknowledgement letter. “(He is) an ambassador for the Division, Fontbonne University and the Conference.”
