Mustard Seed Receives Grants
“As a small theatre company housed in the intimate 120-seat Fine Arts Theatre at Fontbonne, we can only generate so much income with ticket sales,” said Leslie Wobbe, Mustard Seed’s associate artistic director. “The addition of grant funds is vital to Mustard Seed’s continued health and growth. We could not produce the quality of work we do without this kind of support.”
The grants will contribute to production costs, such as sets, costumes and lighting. Additional support comes to Mustard Seed through the Fox Performing Arts Foundation.
The 2012-2013 Mustard Seed season will continue with “Imaginary Jesus.” Released as a novel by Matt Mikalatos and adapted for the stage by Fontbonne professor and Mustard Seed artistic director Deanna Jent, this production will open Nov. 16. Through the support of the Fontbonne Community Connection, four area high schools will participate in a workshop facilitated by Jent that speaks to the process of adapting literature such as “Imaginary Jesus” to the stage.
The Missouri Arts Council awards grants to organizations to stimulate the growth, development and appreciation of the arts in Missouri.
Founded in 1985, the Regional Arts Commission (RAC) is a cultural catalyst in the St. Louis area, providing financial, technical and other support for arts organizations.
