Joyce Maynard Discusses Movie and Book at Jan. Book Club
ST. LOUIS - The Fontbonne University/KMOX Book Club welcomes Joyce Maynard, author of the book and soon-to-be motion picture, “Labor Day,” at its next book club event. The event will take place Wednesday, January 15, 7 p.m. at the Tivoli Theatre, 6350 Delmar Blvd, 63130.
The event will include both a discussion of the book as well as a screening of the movie, starring Kate Winslet, Josh Brolin and Gattlin Griffith. It is free, but seating is limited, and online registration is required.
As an 18-year-old freshman at Yale, Joyce Maynard wrote a cover story for the “New York Times,” and has been writing and reporting for a variety of newspapers and magazines since. She is also the author of 15 books, including, “Labor Day,” her sixth novel, in which 13-year-old Henry tells the story of how his life changed forever when he convinces his mother to take a rare trip out of the house during the long weekend.
