Fashion Show Celebrates STL

Every St. Louisan knows the distinctive elements that make his or her city unique. “It’s a St. Louis thing,” is a common phrase uttered by those who live in St. Louis. Next week, the latest St. Louis thing — “Strutting St. Louis: Meet Me In …,” a fashion show — will take place Friday, April 25, at 4 p.m. on Fontbonne University’s campus in Eleanor Halloran Ferry Plaza.

Coinciding with St. Louis’ 250th birthday, Strutting St. Louis is a celebration of all things St. Louis. The fashion show features five themes of definitive landmarks around the city: Meet Me In… Forest Park, The Loop, Ballpark Village, the Botanical Garden and the Fabulous Fox. Local boutiques such as Splash, Clr-Mnstr, Klutch and Mister Guy will participate as vendors, featuring merchandise from activewear to formal wear.

Strutting St. Louis is a student-produced fashion show organized by fashion merchandising students enrolled in the fashion promotions class. Taking place during a campus-wide Springfest, this year is Fontbonne’s 20th annual fashion show.

“Last year, it was really great to see the collaboration of the community coming together - alumni, students, hairdressers and vendors. The event brought something special and extra to Springfest,” said Linda Magrath, dean of the Eckelkamp College of Global Business and Professional Studies.

Admission to the fashion show is free for standing-room-only, while front row VIP tickets can be purchased for $5 and general admission for $2. Proceeds from Strutting St. Louis benefit Operation Food Search, and a canned food drive will be held for donations and the chance to win a raffle.
