SLIAC Honors Golden, Alum

 
The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) has named Dr. Dennis Golden, president of Fontbonne University, the recipient of the 2014 Lee McKinney Distinguished Service Award. Golden, who will retire at the end of the academic year, has served Fontbonne for 19 of the 47 years he has spent in higher education.

According to SLIAC
, Golden "was often referred to as a 'student's president,'" and has been an advocate for athletics and the benefits they provide students.

The Lee McKinney Distinguished Service Award is presented annually to the individual that has served or competed in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and best exemplifies the qualities of leadership, dedication, service and perseverance displayed by longtime Fontbonne University director of athletics, Lee McKinney.

Golden will be honored Tuesday, May 20, at SLIAC's annual Awards Banquet. That same evening, alumnus Brian Fogerty '09 will be inducted into the 2014 SLIAC Hall of Fame Class. Fogerty graduated with a bachelor's degree in business administration and played basketball for the university.
