Where am I?
Fontbonne University is a Catholic coeducational institution of higher education offering liberal arts and professional programs in a values-based, student-centered environment. About 2,000 students annually take advantage of the university’s high-quality academic programs and wonderful campus environment. Founded in 1923 and still sponsored today by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Fontbonne is located in Clayton, Mo., a well-maintained, beautiful suburb in the heart of the St. Louis metropolitan area. The university embraces diversity and inclusion, and encourages open communication and personal concern.
Fontbonne’s programs, faculty and campus attract students from across the U.S. and many other countries. Forty-five undergraduate majors span the spectrum, from dietetics and biology to social work, education and fashion merchandising. The Eckelkamp College of Global Business and Professional Studies comprises more than a dozen undergraduate and graduate degree programs such as accounting, human resource management, supply chain management and nonprofit management. Most of these programs are offered in evening, online and blended formats specifically designed for busy adults. The College of Education and Communication Sciences and Disorders houses prominent undergraduate and graduate programs in speech-language pathology, deaf education, education and special education. Fontbonne also features several other graduate programs such as theatre, fine arts and instructional design and technology.
Fontbonne faculty members are heavily focused on teaching, and they’re committed to reaching each and every student. Professors devote their time to creating and delivering a curriculum that best serves their students, and an excellent student-faculty ratio creates ideal opportunities for discussion and personal attention. Faculty must meet high academic criteria — 74 percent of full-time faculty members hold the highest degree in their field.
Outside the classroom, experiential learning opportunities, which could include an internship, practicum or student teaching, are incorporated into most academic programs, helping graduates move successfully into their chosen careers.
Learning the importance of existing in a global community is also an important part of the Fontbonne experience. Students have many opportunities to get involved in local community projects, as well as annual service trips to other states and countries.
At Fontbonne University, students not only learn more ... they can be more.
