Family Support Eligibility Specialist
This entry-level professional work involving determination of a client eligibility for incomemaintenance programs in the Family Support Division of the Department of Social Services. Must have: -introductory nowledge of mathematics and accounting principles used in the calculation of public assistance benefits. -introductory knowledge of communication skills, interviewing and negotiation principles and techniques. -introductory knowledge of techniques to assess case situations and determine the most appropriate course of action to ensureconformity with established eligibility guidelines. -introductory knowledge of the general provisions, objectiv, and philosophy of public assitance programs. -introductory knowledge of available community resources. -skill in handling client behaviors such as fear, hostility, and aggression. -Ability to maintain accurate and systematic records, to organize and prioritize the workload to meet assigned timeframes and adapt to changes in policy, procedures and work assignments. -Ability to understand, explain and apply federal and state laws, program policy and procedures. -Ability to communicate effectively with applicants, recipients, the general pubic, and other employees. -Ability to travel, as required, for agency business. Must have four or more years of clerical experience nincome maintenance or child support activities with the Missouri Department of Social Services, A bachelor's degree from an accredited college of univeristy, or four or more years of experience in areas requiring extensive customer interaction which includes working with, or management of, business or employee financial records, sales, marketing, management, direct consumer or public contact, and/or customer serivce functions; and possession of a high school diploma or a GED certificate. Office Support Assitant (Keyboarding) This mid-level clericl and keyboard support work of moderate difficulty and complexity involvving variety of tasks requiring independent work decisions within establised policies and timeframes, usually familiarity with specialized terminology and/or various software packages. (This description may not include all of the duties, knowledge, skills, or abilities associated with this classification). Must have: -intermediate knowledge of business math computations, grmmar, composition, and spelling. -intermediate knowledge of computer informatino systems and software. -skill in the use of a keyboard -ability to understand and follow directions. -ability to establish and/or maintain moderately complex records; use coding and filing systems; and retrieve and compile data. -ability to prepare spreadsheets and reports
-ability to make and apply routine decisions in accordance with policies and procedures.
-ability to review documents for accuracy and completeness.
Senior Office Support Assistant (Keyboarding)Must have six or more months of experience in clerical or general office support work; and possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate. This is senior-level clerical and keyboard support work involving responisbility for complex clerical funcitons or processes and /or staff superivision, usually requiring familiarity with specialized terminology and.or various software packages. Must have: -intermediate knowledge of computer informatino systems and software.
-introductory knowledge of the principles of office management and supervision.-skill in the use of a keyboard -ability to apply and interpret agency policies and procedures. -ability to prepare and maintain complex records and reports. -ability to develop and use coding and filing systems.
-ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public.
-ability to assign, review and evaluate the work of staff.-ability to make complex computations. -ability to copmlete assignments accuratey within specified timeframes. -ability to train and mentor staff. Must have two or more yars of clerical support experience as an Office Support Assistanct with the Missouri Uniform Classification and Pay system; and possesson of a high school diploma or GED certficate or three of more years of experience in clerical or general office support work; and posession of a high school diploma or GED.
