Full time position

Responsibilities include:
With limited manager supervision and high team collaboration, develop new code and maintain/enhance existing code on various applications using the Java development language and associated technologies while following established best practices. Once development is complete, document new features in technical briefs and create programmatic test cases based upon user requirements.
Scope
Support multiple clients of various sizes across industry lines. Work closely with development team members to find the best solutions to business requests. Work with Business Analysts to create and develop around written requirements and test cases.
Reporting and Working Relationships
Reports to a Manager of Technology Innovation with high amount of team interaction.

Job Responsibility Time Spent(%)
Write software or enhance existing software features by incorporating all aspects of application architecture based upon user requirements. Work will be performed throughout all aspects of the development lifecycle. Follow and enhance existing application framework object-oriented design and analysis methodologies. 50
Write SQL statements and integrate SQL into existing code and provide general database support. 20
Create and execute test cases, verify expected test results, and collaborate with testing teams and business partners to resolve testing problems. 10
Investigate and suggest performance and/or design improvements of current web application by preparing use cases, models, and business cases. 10
Provide mentoring to new and junior team members. 10

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree Required. Degree in Computer Science preferred. Must have 1-3 years experience working with Java technology and following Java best practices. Experience with social media platforms and interacting with platforms through Application Programming Interfaces preferred. Knowledge of object oriented concepts and experience working with relational databases and SQL required. Strong desire to solve problems and see solutions through to completion required. Experience dealing with large datasets and multi-threaded applications a plus. Experience with portal servers, such as Liferay and GateIn and the ability to understand SOA solutions required. Experience working on agile development projects a plus. Strong mathematics skills and knowledge of computer learning algorithms a plus. Should be familiar with IEEE best practices and specifications.
