Location: Greater St. Louis Metro Area
Reports to: Typically GM, AGM, Operations, Sales and/or Corporate Managers
Schedule: 40 + Hours per week including weekends and holidays (may begin as part-time for college students or other entry-level; specific work week schedules vary by position)
MDP candidates are expected to rotate into various positions and must be open to work at any WEO location in the St. Louis area and geographic relocation in the future if needed.
Purpose of Program:The WEO Management Development Program (MDP) was created to identify, train, develop and increase our management benchstrength for anticipated new store openings, and to create an internal management talent “pipeline” with a thorough understanding of the unique Weekends Only concept and culture. MDP candidates may be selected internally or recruited externally at three levels, with the following basic qualifications:
ˇ General Management (Stores, Distribution, Merchandising or Corporate Managers)
o Demonstrated interest and commitment to a Retail Industry career
o Strength and ability to grow in each of the WEO Competencies
o 5+ years demonstrated achievement of results by managing other managers
o Prior management experience in a relevant retail function
o Leadership style aligned with the WEO Values & Culture
ˇ Store Management (Department/Store Manager in Training)
o Interest and commitment to a Retail Industry career
o Basic competence and ability to grow in each of the WEO Competencies
o 3+ years prior Management experience, preferably in retail
o College degree preferred
o Demonstrated ability achieve results by managing others
o Leadership style aligned with the WEO Values & Culture
ˇ Entry-Level (Manager-in-Training)
o Interest in management and a Retail Industry career
o Ability to grow in each of the WEO Competencies, including Management
o College degree preferred
o Prior Management experience preferred
o Willingness to grow and lead within the WEO Values & Culture
Career Path: Our Management Development Program places qualified candidates in real leadership roles (not “helper” assignments) such as a Lead, Supervisor, Assistant Manager, Department Manager or Assistant General Manager positions based on the individual’s alignment with the requirements above. This provides the employee the maximum opportunity to learn, demonstrate and hone their management skills and to have an immediate impact on the business. Starting assignments are typically in the following functions, based on position availability, business needs and candidate background:
