Responsibilities/Projects: An Intern (officially Student Volunteer) will work in the St. Louis U.S. Export Assistance Center (USEAC) alongside International Trade Specialists as they assist Missouri companies begin or expand their exports to international markets. The intern will learn about many facets of international trade including market research, trade statistics, export regulations, marketing and public outreach. The intern will meet face-to-face with business executives and participate in partner events.
The majority of the time will be spent on the following projects:
Market Research: Conduct market research for at least one Commercial Service business client. This will include meeting face-to-face with a business executive, determining their export needs and providing consultation and research services under the guidance of an International Trade Specialist.
Marketing & Outreach: Planning and executing a marketing campaign to Missouri businesses to promote the U.S. Commercial Service and our assistance capabilities. This will include potential promotional partners, drafting marketing material, making calls to partner organizations and visiting with local businesses.
Export Analysis: Conduct research on exporting requirements including U.S. export documentation requirements and regulation for our trading partners worldwide. The intern will have access to U.S. Department of Commerce resources including databases, global research and educational training. Office Management: The intern will assist with other office projects throughout the term as developed by the USEAC office. |
