Guest and Volunteer Services Internship (unpaid)

The Guest and Volunteer Services internship will provide plenty of practical experience working in the tourist industry and managing a diverse group of volunteers. Interns will be actively involved in recruitment and training of new volunteers, volunteer scheduling, and supervision of our volunteers. Interns will assist the Guest Services Coordinator with greeting and assisting guests, meeting group sales and education classes, maintenance of the facility, and answering questions from guests about all aspects of the Butterfly House. Human resources issues will be covered as they relate to volunteers. ADA issues that relate to volunteers and customer needs will be addressed as well.

Self-starter
Interest in working with people
Coursework in communications, public relations and/or management

Requirements:
Ability to work some weekends
140 hours minimum commitment (will adjust to meet school requirements)
2.5 cumulative GPA

High school seniors entering college in the fall are accepted on a case-by-case basis.

Internship dates: (3½ months)
Summer: May – mid-August (application deadline: April 1)
Fall: September – mid-December (application deadline: July 15)
Spring: mid-January – April (application deadline: November 15)
Hours: part time/20 hours per week; full time/37.5 hours per week
