Program Assistant - School Age Care (PT)

The purpose of this position is to ensure children, ages 5-12, are cared for in a safe, familiar environment before and after school by experienced staff members who provide a variety of developmentally appropriate learning and growth opportunities.
Job Responsibilities
vMonitor children and maintain positive staff/child interactions at all times
vPlan and implement activities and experiences that focus on all areas of school aged children's development with consideration given to individual's needs and interest that are age appropriate, multicultural and anti-bias
vMaintain a safe and orderly environment conducive to student learning and/or play including general housekeeping duties
vImplement developed appropriate behavior management and group management techniques in a fair consistent manner
vHelp maintain records according to standards and other tasks needed for smooth operation of center
vDevelop and maintain positive interactions with families, YWCA staff and school personnel in the program through both verbal and written communication and help promote YWCA programming
vCarry out all policies as direct including regulations for State licensing and Accreditation
Job Requirements
vKnowledge of child development, behavior management techniques, understanding of licensing requirements
vAbility to be prompt
vExcellent communication, interpersonal skills
vPass a criminal and child abuse and neglect background check
vAbility to provide a recent physical, TB test and Hepatitis A series
Education Requirements
vHigh School Diploma/GED
vMinimum of 3 college credit hours in youth development
