Under the direction of the Site Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing support for School Age Programs, with specific focus on positive interaction and engagement of program participants. When the Site Supervisor is not present at the Site, the Lead Teacher will be responsible for the school-age site operations.
Job Responsibilities
Site Administration: Assist Site Supervisor with the following:
vMonitor children and maintain positive staff/child interactions at all times
vMaintain a safe and orderly environment conducive to student learning and/or play
vConduct daily site checks and ensure environment is clean, safe and free of hazards
vHelp to establish supportive relationships and positive communication with children, families and school administration and YWCA Staff
vHelp to create and promote an environment of respect and appreciation of cultural and ethnic difference among staff, parents and children
vComplies with applicable local, state and federal licensing requirements, certifications and/or regulations
vHelp to sustain required compliance to assure that the center meets and/or exceeds YWCA Performance Standards, Missouri State Licensing and Accreditation
Child Development:
vAssist in the development, planning and implementation of age appropriate academic and enrichment curriculum, lesson plans and activities
Program Recruitment:
vProvide input in the development of recruitment strategies for the program
vHelp to implement agreed upon recruitment and retention strategies to meet site-based capacity goals
Job Requirements
vExperience working with children and youth is important
vFamiliarity with child care licensing and accreditation preferred
vKnowledge of child development, behavior management and parent engagement is key
vInterpersonal, written/oral communication
vOrganizational and time management skills
vAbility to work well under pressure and in situations that require teamwork
vMust be able to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously, including being aware of all children in environment
Education Requirements
vMust be 18 years of age or older
vHS Diploma/GED required
vMust have a minimum of 9 college credit hours in youth development, youth specific secondary education, physical education, parks and recreation, child development, child/family related courses
