Teacher Assistant - Head Start

The purposes of this position is to assist in planning and implementing learning opportunities that further the children's social, emotional, cognitive, physical growth and development while acting as a support and resource for parents to ensure Head Start Program Performance Standards are met.
Job Responsibilities
vAssist in developing and implementing developmentally appropriate activities on a daily basis
vConduct daily health checks and ensure environment is clean, safe and free of hazards
vAssist in developing and implementing individualized activities based on the development level of each child
vAssist with creating learning environments in the classroom and outside for young children which promote experimentation and exploration
vCommunicate effectively with parents in promoting parental involvement in their child's early learning experience
vAssist with conducting screenings and on-going assessments of each child's growth and development; use information to refer children with potential delays
vFacilitate and assist children in developing positive relationships that support a caring community within the classroom
vAssist with maintaining and updating records on all children enrolled in the classroom
Job Requirements
vWorking knowledge and understanding of early childhood development and education
vKnowledge of emergency procedures for young children
vAbility to communicate effectively with parents and including them in their child's learning process
vAbility to lift 40lbs
vOne year teaching experience working with infants and toddlers
vPass a criminal and child abuse and neglect background check
vAbility to provide a recent physical, TB test and Hepatitis A series
Education Requirements
vAssociates Degree in Early Childhood Education or other field, with experience in childcare or a Child Development Associate (CDA)
